My Christmas break was very interesting to say the least. People keep asking me how my break went and I reply with "good", so they ask what I did, they usually respond with "it doesn't seem like it was that great" or "that was an eventful break." So pretty much here is how it went.
I flew home on the Sunday before Christmas. I was so excited to be home, in my own bed, be around family, and good food. My brother Ryan, my sister Amy, and Ryan's friend Kylie (I think that is how you spell it???) came and picked me up from the airport. It was so nice to meet Kylie and see my family. My family has a joke that I always have an opinion on my siblings friends (especially all of Ryan and Amy's friends). Some times I am a little harsh, but I would rather have them know what I really think than not. I liked Kylie because she seemed so down to Earth and not at all stuck up or just superficial. Getting home just made me so happy. I feel like I can relax and just breath at home.
On Monday, there was a lot to do. We were heading up to Utah soon, so there was a lot of preparation that needed to be done for Christmas. Last minute gifts were wrapped, food was purchased (and a whole lot of it), bags were packed, gifts were delivered and family bonding time was spent. On Tuesday or Wednesday (I cannot remember) we headed up to Utah. While up there I got to say my final good-byes to my Grandma and spend some of her last days with her. I felt very lucky to be able to do this. I flew home for Thanksgiving and was able to see her, but I was not sure if I was going to be able to see her again. I felt blessed to have one final goodbye. While up there, though, I got to help out my favorite cousin, Julie. She was a little behind on Christmas (we had purchased all her gifts on Black Friday, but nothing was wrapped). Ashley and I took her kids (Brittany 12, Amanda 4, Jeremy 2) to a movie and out to lunch while my sister Amy helped Julie wrap everything and clean the house. It was so much fun!!! I even got to drive around her minivan. I really think that the people at Wendy's thought I was the mother of all these children because I was getting some death glares.
Christmas was so much fun!! We came back from Utah on Christmas Eve and had a delicious little feast. Then we all went to bed early because we all were suffering from lack of sleep. My nephews spent the night in my bed, so I did not get much sleep that night either!! We had tons of fun and I kept them in my room as long as possible, so my family could get as much sleep as they could. Around 7 a.m. we all got up, opened our stocking and presents and went to church. I love my new Magic Bullet and Wii!!!! They both are so much fun!!!
After Christmas, we returned up to Utah once again to celebrate the life of my Grandma. I was able to see my best friend Carly (finally!!!) so I was excited. All of my cousins or the grandchildren of my Grandma were able to be in attendance which was so nice. I am so grateful that I was able to attend because I knew if the funeral/celebration happened after I returned to Hawaii, I was not going to be able to attend. School is just too crazy and since I am far into my program, I simply cannot miss a class. My family was able to spend New Years with some of my relatives which was exciting. To spice up New Years Eve, I took Amy, Ashley, Brittney, Tyler, and Amanda on an adventure. We went cone-ing. Cone-ing is where your order an ice cream at McDonalds, you pay for it, and then when they give it to you, you simply grab the ice cream only and drive off quickly. The worker is then just left with the cone in their hand. It was funny to watch the reactions of the workers (we did it four times, at different locations of course). Then we stopped by the dollar store to pick up some supplies for our celebration. We grabbed tons of glow sticks, balloons, noise makers, and other random junk. We decorated the basement with streamers and at least 100 balloons. It was so much fun!! All the little kids enjoyed the glow-in-the-dark-bracelets very much! I also was able to get the adults to play the game trainwreck (it is a really fun game) which was nice. At midnight, we lit off TONS of fireworks and drank tons of Apple Cider! It was a nice was to celebrate.
Once we returned to Las Vegas, I had my wisdom teeth out. It was an interesting experience and they are still healing. I felt very luckily that the doctor was able to fit me in and work with my crazy schedule!!! Now I just have 3 holes in my mouth and I am waiting for them to heal.
I was able to see some good movies, some friends, hang out with my family, receive some great gifts, see my puppy, get the Vegas poster I wanted, and RELAX during the break. I am so excited I was able to do so much!!!
Now the new semester has started and I am off to a very busy schedule. There is a lot to do and the start is always overwhelming, but soon it will be all under control and good!!!!!
